Default Return completly Blocked off

HI,
It happened so slowly that I didn't realize that there was a lot of precip forming in my return tubing .
I finally noticed that one of overflows was not working so I thought a pump had failed, I removed the line from the pump and it was blocked with calicum carbonate hardening of the tubing, I took it out side walked on it and a bunch of carbonate came out.I flushed it out and recconnected the pump and I could hear the water poruing thru the overflow.
Took about 1 year to obstruct the tubing.
I was keeping my calcium a little high this contributed to the precip IE kaulkwausser/KH..
Better check those pumps tubing alittle more frequently.DUH!
Doug

Default MAybe its time to use 1 in tubing

HI,
WHen I set up my returns I used mostly water grade 3/4 in pvc to construct a simple return (L) at the tank and put a smaller nipple fitting on the pvc connected to 5/8 tubing to the pump ,maybe it time to mod that return to a larger 1 inch set up, this would really prevent build up.
a worthy project that dosen't require a huge chunk of money.
Doug
When my water flow decreased with time my tanks started to show problems with alage and water flow, I thought i was over feeding, but it was all flow related.
