Removing the Bio-Balls...

Sorry to bring this topic up , again! * But I wanted mass opinion before doing something stupid alone, that way I could blame everyone, not just me!! *

Nooo...just don't think my system can do ok without the bio-balls. I only have about 60lbs of rock, 80lbs of sand, in my tank. (75gal AGA) While it looks like alot, theres always room for more, just no more money!! *

should I leave the bio-balls in place still, or would I be better as the tank is without them ?? I still get nitrates at about 20 or so...and the tanks about 6-8 months old now....

20 ppm isn't all the bad considering all you have in there. I'd be tempted just to leave it alone and stay up on water changes.

If you are itching to do it and see what happens go in thirds removing the balls, maybe a couple weeks apart.
