Phosphate remover in fluidized bed

Would using something like Phosban/Phosguard work in a fluidized bed filter? I have been contemplating it, but would just like to know before I do something stupid.

HI,
I made a home made phos reactor out of a large diameter tube and capped one end with a filter material and the other on a hose, anywho, I managed to spill about a tsp of that phos guard and they are stil floating around when i stir the sand in the sump by adding water they are very light and that will not work in yea old fluidized bed even at the lowest pump setting.
If you try it do it on a bucket not the tank.

It should work though I would make sure you don't have a very strong powerhead for the water flow into and out of the unit! Otherwise you run the risk of the medium flushing out into your main tank! Possibly use a filter medium/phos remover and place it in a bag or buy the kind that is sealed already in a mesh bag...

Its the only way to use the ferric oxide Also next time you need new media look for a German product PORA phoslock its all we use at the aqua culturing center I work for Its the best I ever have used and never heard of it until I started to use it there The other Phosban ? Phosorbe ? what ever its named made by the or marketed by the fish expert sucks when compared to this. Also when its in the reactor about a 2in deep bed and just enough flow to make it wave up and down like wet sand is what you want and just add a control valve between the pump and reactor for proper control of water volume. The stuff i mentioned will not release it back once absorbed unlike all the others I ever tried .
