Default Overflowbox & Pump Matching

I have a continuous siphon overflow box rated at 600gph maximum. I am wondering what is the minimum pump size I can have without it breaking the siphon. (I know all about head resistance and everything)

_________

29 gal nano reef tank. 10 gal refugium/sump. maxijet 1200. prizm skimmer. 45lb live rock. 15lb indo-pacific black sand. zoos. mushrooms. leathers. naso tang.

A pump that will do 600gph @ the head hight.

Is this for that 29g? That is a lot of turnover just in the sump.

So if I have a pump that outputs 250gph it will stop the siphon? Could i put a small siphon tube on it to slow down the flow.

What type of box do you use ? Why would you want a minimum pump ? what size tank it it on ?

Its a CRP Box rated at 600GPH. Im putting it on a 29G. I dont want that much flow, so i am trying to figure out a way to restrict the flow into the sump. I already have figured out a way to restrict the flow coming from the sump back into the tank, but again, need a way to restrict the flow going into the sump.

if you get an overflow rated at 600gph, well if its on a 29g tank, it might not siphon that much if the 600gph is rated on a 75g tank. The pump is what makes the difference. Once it gets below the overflow line, its the pumps job to keep the water above that line.

"On a 55 gallon tank with mag5 pump you will get a 500gph flow rate, on a 75 gallon you could get a flow rate of 700gph with a mag7 pump, and on an aquarium with a larger surface area and a larger pump you could get a larger flow rate, and with a smaller surface area and smaller pump you will get a smaller flow rate."
This was taken from Wet/Dry Aquarium filters and overlfow boxes
