Default New Filter

I currently have a tetra tech ph 150 filter which isn't that great for my 26 gallon. I was thinking of upgrading to get a better filter would anyone be nice enough to recommend one. I going to look at the store tonight but I would rather have few ideas in my head before I go.

Thanks

I have been looking and doesn't look like their is many skimmers built for smaller tanks. Should I just forget getting a skimmer and just get a new filter.
