Anodized Aluminum is fine in saltwater Thats why they make boat props out of casted anodized aluminum , And or S.S .
To try and coat it with some gook would kill the heat exchange efficiency as it would insulate the exchange with the water. Plug it in a let it rip. Te powder coating is on the probe for looks and sales appeal.

You no there are over 300 different types of aluminum alloys ? When I was racing off shore the Mercury Teck Rep on site in the wet pits once gave myself and the driver of the boat an aluminum lesson LOL
One team on the circuit had a all aluminum boat it was called Riveted (: Looked like an airplane wing with the rivets (: and one yr they ran a turbo diesel and did very well with it for the season

Good grief 300. Well that guy would know his stuff... I'll scape the remaining coating off and use it next round. Thanks.

There is a product that you can use also called placti grip very durable and comes in black (: kind of like what they dip a tool in to get the rubber grips . If the aluminum makes you nervous ? Some get shaky with metals and their tanks .

It did at first, but I tend to agree with you that a lot of insulation will reduce its effectiveness. Worth an experiment I tend to think..
