| How to rid the scum from the water surface I have a 5.5 gallon saltwater tank with 4 lbs. of live rock. It has been running for a little over a month and I have a cloudy scum on the water surface. Can anyone give me advice on how to get rid of this cloudy water surface? Page 1 |

| You can use something like this if you are planing on a canister filter in the future. Other then that a overflow to a sump would be your best bet and the you could run a skimmer. They also have hang on tank skimmers too. |

| For a cheap solution that you may have to do every few days you can just place a paper-towel on the top of the tank and then toss it out. A good amount of the crud will stick to it. However you will have to do it frequently and also have to worry about the little particles of the paper-towel ending up in the tank. I personally would not do this but I have seen it done.
