Default How long is safe?

I am currently treating an ich infestation. I am using a product called kick ich. I took my carbon out of my can filter and turned my skimmer off. How long can i have bot the carbon and the skimmer out of my tank for it to be safe. The kick ich has a 15 day treatment with no water changes. and suggestions? i have tryed other methods/products a couple of weeks ago and in that time frame i have lost 70% of my fish from ich did a water change and now i am trying to save my yellow and sailfin tang with the kick ich. the carbon has been out of the can filter for about a week and a half. and suggestions would be greatly appreciated! i dont want to lose the rest of my fish form this terrible parasite!

Thanks Guys!
-Jordan

Jordan, I really feel for you. I tried using Kick Ich a few times and it never worked for me. I was having a huge problem with my 65gal tank with ich but i found by dosing daily Garlic Gaurd about 10 ml and adding Selcom to my food solved my problem along with raising my temp to about 82-83 for about a week and half. I'm still using the garlic and selcom daily and its been about 6 weeks, no sign of the evil. I'll probably cut back on the Selcom to every other day and the garlic still once a day but about 5ml. Its all about keeping the fish healthy and the garlic keeps them eating and the Selcom is vitamins for them. Good Luck!

a few days should be fine. Just make sure that you have a good water aggitation at the air/water interface to rid excess carbon dioxide and dissolve oxygen into your water to avoid suffocation. Lower your salinity level to 1.015 or so for a couple weeks as well slowly, then raise it back up to 1,024 or so.

Jordan that sounds good. I think th black spots on your yellow tang are from the ich. This happened to my yellow tang when it got hit with the evil. I would recommend using the garlic and selcom if your not dosing with it. I certainly saw a difference when i started using the garlic and selcom.
