| Help with RO/DI plumbing Hello all. Looking for some advice on my newly purchased used RO/DI fliter system I just won on ebay for $23. Unfortunately, it didn't come with any instructions and it looks like I might need to buy some new filters (maybe you can tell from the pictures). It also is missing the hose for "out" line.
I don't plan on permanatly hooking it up under my sink, so how do you suggest I use this system? How do I use it in a sink or spigot outside? There are no connections/valves on the other lines, so are these parts I need to buy? Basically, I am totally clueless as to how to use and install, but after reading many books and threads, it seems necessary to have a successful reef tank. I have included pictures of front and back view of the system.
Thanks |

| where can I buy one of these fittings? Also, do you always get water going through your ro/di when you do a load of laundry? Is the orange line your waste water? where do you have that going? It seems like an interesting setup, I'm just not sure how the fitting determines if the water should go to your filter or the washer, it seems like it would go to both. |

| The fitting you can get at Lowe's or Home Depot. The other thing is just a those spliter, t thing. you can get that at any garden center. No, I didn't get a good shot of the other side of it, but it's got 2 little lever thing to shut each one off. Click on the pic and you should be able to see the black lever on the other side a little.....I turn it on when I need ro/di and the washer one I keep on. The orange line is the waste or rinse and it goes to my washers waste pipe out, just stuck in there. It doesn't move so I just pushed it down the drain. use a 1/4 to 1/4 elbow if you want the bend, but it's not needed. you can go to your lhs and tell them what you are doing the they should be able to hook you up....
hope this helps |

| I wish I would have seen your post earlier. I went out and bought a Y adapter from Home Depot, brass, so it was $9. Maybe I'll return it and go get this one from Lowe's. I like how it has the black shut off knobs.
Anyway, I hooked it up to my spigot in my yard to test it. I have to say, I'm not sure if I am using it correctly:Halloween44:.
From my picture in the first post, the red line is hooked to the "in", which I have connected to the spigot. I think my black line is my waste water. This line comes from the membrane on top of the filter. It also has a valve that if I tighten or loosen will change the flow of water coming out. How fast or slow do I want the water coming from this black line?
I then attached another line to the "out", which I believe is my good water. This line is after the DI. My pressure gauge was around 80psi, but the gauge goes up to 200psi. I don't have a TDS yet, so I can't measure.
Please somebody help me and tell me if I have it hooked up right and if it is working properly. Almost forgot. There is a soft humming coming from the membrane I think. Is this normal? |

| Oceanus Systems - Aqua FX RO/DI
this is the company that makes them...looks like an older model. email them and ask them for specifics on installation. Each water filter is a little different, so how mine hooks up may not be the same as yours and I'd hate to tell you the wrong thing to do. |

If you'd like to PM us your email address we can send you a set of instructions.

| Is that a used system? If so, and you don't know much about its history, then there are some things you ought to do.
Do you have a tds meter?
