| You can get them on eBay as well. I have mine at the input to my sump. It takes out large particulate matter. I have been on the fence lately as to whether keeping it was a good idea. The folks here convinced me to do so. You do have to clean it twice weekly. That is the only drawback. | I use 2 large filter socks , it does a great job of filtering out particulates / dirtys.
( have 4 so i pull the dirty ones and install the other 2 then use the washer to clean the dirty ones )

| I myself find them to be a total waste of time and money never found a need for them myself not in a reef system and they are just one more thing to mess with . _________ Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible (Doug Larson) |

Saltwater breaks down debris alot further than freshwater does. IMO the only thing the socks are doing is turning brown for ya and catchin ur pods which are good in the system. This is the way I look at it. When you have filter socks on 100 percent of your water is running through a poop filled sock. (2 hours of running in the system and they are dirty). If you use your sump as a settling area for detritus, only a small amount of water is running over the nastiness. If I get too much in my sump I just vacuum the sump out with my small shop vac. I hope this helps a little. |
