Default canister filter media HELP!!

I have a cascade 1200 canister and have heard that they are fine for a FOWLR tank, I just need to know exactly what to stack in the media trays and how to stack them. At least what everyone has found to be the best combo, I have about 20-22 lbs live rock and 20 lbs sand. It is cycling and the ammo has dropped down a lot....I'm just waiting for the nitrite/trate to follow suit. I also have a marineland bio-wheel 200 with the wheel and a charcoal pad in the media slot. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED....thanks a ton....

Default

Canister filters typically have sponges, charcoal, then ammonia remover - in that specific order in which the water flows through the media.
Looks like in the 1200 the bio-floss is the first mechanical filtration screen, and the sponge comes after the media container.

Default HI tried canisters

HI,
I had two canisters that were both marineland with filter pads, one had carbon the other media, the only thing they did was stir up sand and load up with food and precip and fish poo this dosen't allow the cleaning crews access to the fish poo. and mine seemed to reduce the pods in the tanks.
I shut mine down and let the live rock do its job less maint too, they would load up fairly quickly any precip due to KH problems all the calcium is in the canister, I now only put small amounts of carbon in my penguins and use a little phos remover in the pads too, easier to rinse and still have a little water flow in the back of the live rock besides the returns from the sump.
DOug

Default thanks, now about copper

Alright, so it sounds like I just need a few floss pads, some carbon and a good ammo romover. I only have about 25 lbs live rock in there right now so I'm hesitant to shut down any filters. This is all new to me and it is a bit daunting in the least. My other concern is copper, when i converted my tank to salt I went on the advice of someone I trust and used the existing water. I'm mainly worried about copper and inverts, it was a long time ago that i treated my fish for ich and just want to be sure it's diluted out of the tank and filters. My chemicals are settling down in the salt tank and I am starting to get the "brown out" everyone says is part of the cycle process. Again, any thoughts or advice?
