Default Japan emperor's woe over US fish

Poor guy. I'd feel bad too. EDIT - And a lesson for all aquarium enthusiasts!

"Japan's Emperor Akihito has said he "feels pained" that he introduced an aggressive non-native species of fish to Japan nearly 50 years ago.

Several bluegill fish were given to the emperor during a visit to the US.

He hoped the fish could be bred for food but some escaped from research centres and have now spread through Japan, threatening native species. "

I still worry every day that this hobby is going to shut down due to Jaubert's original mistake with Caulerpa taxifolia at the Monaco Aquarium.

There's a lot we learned from his plenum. But in the end, I'm not sure he will be remembered well due to the Caulerpa killing reefs elsewhere.

It reminds me of something I learned in Junior High shop. Measure TWICE and cut once. It is better to think ahead.

That was Jaubert over in the Mediterranean? wow.
I thought the irony there was that Cousteau was involved in that.

lol! Somebody here likes to fish.

My memory is foggy here but I am starting to remember the Jaubert thing a bit. I would love a refresher though.. If I find 2 secs I'll do some research myself.

Here is what I was referring to:

"Eventually, in 1982, a sample of it found its way to the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco, then headed by Jacques Cousteau. Two years later marine biologist Alexandre Meinesz discovered the alga in nature, under the windows of this celebrated building."
caulerpa taxifolia fact sheet

I see Jaubert's fingerprints on numerous photos and papers but I've yet to see the direct connection here.
