|  Yellow Tang has big white spots - not ich
Our yellow tang has the big white spots on its tail too. One is big, the other 2 spots are smaller, and he's getting one just above one of his eyes too.
I'm thinking it's a fungus, so I'm planning on treating with Pimafix and Melafix.
He still swims, eats, etc normally. Water parameters should be ok.
Any other ideas for treatment here? _________  |

Whoa!... 
There are other fish parasites besides ICK.
My CB and Tang periodically pick up ones like you are describing.
If fish healthy, they will throw off in day or so...
DO NOT ADD any meds. yet.

Got shrimp?
Only use those meds as a last, last resort...when fish reach life threatening condition. Then only in QT tank. Never in main.
Does not sound/look like you are there yet. | |

Things did not look good for the flounder in that link above. Thanks guys.
I have a skunk cleaner shrimp, but I've only seen him clean the blue tang, not the yellow. Maybe a fire shrimp would? This guy would be a PITA to catch and put in QT as a last resort. | |

Well, after a few hours of research, it looks like lymphocystis is the closest match to whatever the yellow tang has. I'm not sure I want to set up the quarantine tank and spend hours trying to catch the tang. I also don't want it spreading to the blue tang either, once the viral cysts fall off. That lymphocystis is pretty scary stuff...
Read closely..."No known therapy or immunization..." --- have never heard of in home reef aquarium... 
Looks nothing like what is on your fish. 
When my fish get "whatever this is" ... they always drop it off in couple of days.
Only get reoccurance couple of times a year...mostly on my CB.
