Yep, it can be as easy as that :-)

If you use a small enough piece of rock ( or plug ) you can then use some reef safe epoxy the secure it to the other rocks. Obviously you do this after the xenia attaches and you remove the rubber band.

There are also other methods you may prefer to use. Search around and ask questions :-)

When I get encrusting frags (GSP or mushrooms), I place then in a suitable low flow spot or wedge them somewhere and let them attach on their own. If I attach them to a piece of rubble or plug, I wedge them where I want and in time the corline algea will "glue" them in place.

Xenia is like a weed anyway so why don't you just try a few differrent methods and see how they work. Don't be afraid of failure my friend

John O, can i get your opinion on something. I'm gonna either buy 20 more lbs. of LR and they will be 60 lbs. or should I buy this big rock covered w/ Xenia for $25.

lbs and gallons don't mean much to me ;-) Can you post a picture of your tank as it is? That would be a bigger help than a calculation.

In any case don't forget that most corals that you purchase will already be attached to a rock, so you really don't want to have too much rockwork or you will end up taking some out. As you know, it's generally not cheap.

Xenia will spread quite quickly given the right conditions so you really don't want to start out with a whole lot or it might take over your tank :-)

Ok, so that's what 40 pounds of rock looks like :-) IMHO, get at least 20 more pound

I agree that 20 more lbs should be the minmum. Make sure it is fully cured.
