OK i dont get it. Yesterday the xenia looked great today it is shriviled up and looking bad. My mushrooms and everything else looks great. Whats going on?

have you done anything to the tank? how is the water? where they moved at all? did the change the water current? need a bit more info. but from what you said id say i dont know

Xenia is a very sensitive little critter, anything can make it feel bad...lucky for us, they are also super hardy...so as long as it isnt melting you are ok.

Now to find out whats wrong.

a) How long has the xenia been in the tank?

b) If it is new, where in the tank is it? (close to lights...on sand etc...what kind of lights do you have?)

c) Supp levels...xenia loves iodine so make sure to keep the levels up.

d) Water flow...eh...I doubt thats the problem

e) Actually, xenia does sometimes go though stages of depression...mine do that every couple of weeks...its crazy, all of the xenia in my tank (even different species) will sometimes just shrivle up a for a while and come back.

From time to time, you will notice them displaying this type of behavior/appearance. Many times it is normal, as much so as the fact that some Xenia pulse while others do not!
As long as this doesn't go on for an extended period of time, your Xenia is fine. It could just be your Xenia being upset, or going through a chemical process or something comporable.
Now if this goes on for a lengthy period of time then I would be concerned and look at placement and water parameter issues!

Well as for the Xenia's you'll get a million guesses and as for the comparison to the mushrooms you can't kill them with a hammer just make more of them.. I'd look at temps first then circulation then on to the DKH and ca levels..A very sensitive coral but once it takes hold you'll pray or pay for something to kill it..

Water condition "indicator"? Xenia asking for water change?

Mine never shrink up, except for very short periods of time. Usually during light change periods.
