White film on a Leather.

One of my leathers is excreting some kind of white filmy stuff. Is this dangerous to the fish?

Not really a concern as the fish probably wont eat it. it is a mucus which the soft coral uses to its advantage to remove bacteria, detritus etc. on it. The only possible cause of concern is if it lands on another coral, it could harm it, especially sps's!

Is it excreting it into the water or is it just covered with a white film?

It was covered with this film .... this morning it's gone.

In that case, it was most likely sloughing, as coral reefer described.
