Torch coral care ?

Hey ' well wouldint ya know it' went to the LFS today and seen a
Torch coral (kinda like frogspawn), anyways brought this beast home
(15) heads , needless to say it was full in the sell out tank,
Is any one familar with these ?

Questions >

A, how much water flow is to much ?
B, can it it be put in the sand bed ? ( to get away from the light )
C, how much light can one withstand ?

My therory is it wont open because of the intense light on it'.. now it's in
a crevice of a rock bout 2 inches off the bottom ( 30 inch deep tank )

I would have assumed it would have came out "fully expanded" within 3 hours of being home , ( it has not ).

Any idea's / certinty's ?

Put yall's thinking cap on.. this things way to big and beautiful ,
i dont wish to lose any of the "heads" it's in perfect shape .

In my experience this is a relatively difficult coral to maintain. Much more then its close cousin frogspawn.

Needs moderate light/moderate flow and near pristine water conditions.

Also make sure plenty of room around it as it send out sweepers at night and fight with any neighbor.

Give it some time and it should fill out for you.

well afte ri moved it to the side and further down.. it "appears" to be doing better.
we will see in the next day or two.
Just hoping i dont lose any "heads/branches" of it.. ya always see.. these things with a dead head or 2 on them ( evidently from shipping )

but in this corner the water movment is relativly low , so lets see i guess .

well' 2nd day in the tank' and this morning its lookin GREAT ! , likes the spot i moved it to i think , opened fully.
A side note' i do preach LIGHT, LIGHT, LIGHT ! but in this "instance" these softies sem to be intolarant of alot intense lighting, but like i say'.... larger tanks give you room to manuver.
thus far i am pleased to say' its' doing great ' only time will tell on longevity

like omard said low flow lots of room and i have several of them and they do great in halide light so i dont think that was the problem.sometimes corals just take a litle time to settle in.good luck and feed the critter once in a while it will epriceate the offering.

Everey few weeks feed it a piece of raw squid or shrimp clam ? somthing like that just every few weeks though not every week once a month is good for a full fed. They will filter feed also and grab food that may float by too.
