Default stars not comeing out

My star polyps will not come out. The mushrooms and zoes are doing great. My nitrates were a little high yesterday but I did a 15% water change last night. Everything is on track. What am I missing or do they do this from time to time? Also a white thin slime is coming off it in places?

Thanks

My star polpys seem to like coming out in any conditions except too much direct flow. Yesterday i teared up a couple pieces with my bare hands and put them in different place and even those came out today. Might be flow or maybe water conditions.

Take a toothbrush a soft one and lightly scrub them off their heard may have some algae on them and they will not open like that. Just a light rub with the old soft brush should do the trick. (:Oh and use a old brush no need to waste a new one..

Well, usually for stars (unless not doing so good...for some reason or another) tend to take a while to open up after a traumatic event takes place. If they do not open in a few days, water chem or some other factor might be affecting them.

Last night I took a very soft brush to them and lowered them in the tank. As soon as I put them down they opened up. It seems they are fuller looking now. I guess I just had to find the right place for them. Now that that worry is over I am going coral shopping today. I don't post that often because I usually find the answer but when I do post I get great help. Thanks guys.
