Default So I'm kind of slow...

But could someone enlighten me as to what the LPS and SPS mean, and the differences between them? A quick run through of google and some of my materials tells me it's something possibly lighting related, but I can't seem to find a good answer.

Thanks!

LPS is Large Polyp Stony.
SPS is Small Polyp Stony.
Some quick examples you can see here.
http://www.marinedepotlive.com/corals.html
If you do some searching independently on some of those you can get more of a scientific explanation on them. In the actual scientific field they are trying to stay away from LPS add SPS based on the fact that they are not all that different biologically and in feeding habits. However in the reef keeping it helps a bit more. SPS need better water movement and stronger lighting that the LPS which need decent water movement and not as strong lighting.
But both more that Soft Corals.
Hope that helps.
