so im very excited and waited a while before i added corals, but tomorrow is the day everything changes. i did buy a rhodactis mshroom rock with 12 shrooms on it from the LFS and they seem to be doing well so i figured it was time to let the fun begin. before i start, i want to mention i ordered from Vividaquariums.com and so far the service seems very good, but we'll really see when the package arrives tomorrow. i did like the fact that they call to discuss shipping. below are links to what i ordered, figured these would be decent starters for my newbness.

I've ordered from them twice with good results. They package and ship very well. I have always received the package by 10:00am, and I'm on the east coast. Do keep in mind that while they don't misrepresent their corals, the pictures are under "optimum" conditions. So the coloration may not be as intense as shown on the website. Some corals, such as my sunset monti, dragon's breath favia, orange ricordia, and armor of god zoas were great, they all had great color and looked just like the pictures, others such as the superman monti I ordered, and red planet were not exactly what I expected, they weren't bad, but the colors were off meaning they were to faded, the superman monti or not fully developed, the red planet. But overall I recommend them. Please post pics when they come in.

heh, was hoping that they would be delivered around 5pm which is not to long after i get out of the office, but tracking says 10:30am. i'll just have someone stop by and grab it from the steps. Pics will definitely be going up!

man, those look really nice. I can't wait to get into corals, especially since i have my light now. The ones that you ordered seem pretty easy to take care of. When i'm ready maybe i'll buy some of them, their really nice. Can't wait to see pics!

well the corals came in yesterday while i was in the office so i had someone turn the lights off and place the bags in the tank so i could place them in when i get home which was approximately 9.5 hours after they arrived.

Some of the zoas opened immediately and fine, some opened a little and then closed. The sun coral seems to open a little. the trumpet coral seems to be ok, not sure about the favia since i have no clue about them, haha.

Is all this normal for new corals that were not in proper lighting for about 24 hours and perhaps a little stressed from shipping? I know my calcium levels are around the low 400s which i want to bump up, but the mushroom rock i put in over the weekend has been doing great.

i'll see what happens when i get home today and they have been exposed to light for about 10 hours. perhaps i'll try target feeding a little phytoplankton their way.

just an FYI, the KO nightmare is no where near as red as the pic shows. it's more like a resty red. the radioactive zoas are nice, but havent really opened yet. just briefly when i first added them and then closed. the joker zoas opened a little, but not fully. probably my favorite out of them all, atleast at the moment, is the kryptonite candy cane.
