| More Leather Problems I read the previous post about greeks leather problems and the next day stated noticing that my leather was shedding its skin. When it first started it was partially open, but the next day it remained closed and has been closed for about 4 days now. It has been real happy in the amount of flow that it was in, so I don't think that is it. I did a 10% water change yesterday, and no changes 12 hours later. Here are some pics, I am mostly worried about the white stuff around the top and the brown around the bottom. |

| If there is still mucas on the leather then it probably isn't getting enough flow. Mine used to close up for a couple of days and then reopen again, however sometimes it was closed for longer periods of time. I wouldn't worry about it too much at the moment but it's worth testing your water just in case there is a problem.

| Leather corals go through a stage periodically, which may be more numerous or less depending on a number of variables. This stage known as molting or sloughing is similar to that that snakes go through in shedding their skin as they grow.
Leathers will form a mucus coat on their oral disc as a way of removing detritus, parasites, algae, sediment and possibly as a way of growing.
I don't know if this is actually what is happening with your leather or not, without seeing pictures.
Leathers can develop various diseases not limited to white and brown band disease and tissue necrosis! Hopefully you don't have that going on... _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F. | I agree with CR that it could just be natural and nothing to worry about yet. My leathers did the same thing and would be grumpy for days and then really open up.
