| Leather toadstool question I recently bought a leather toadstool and some orange spot polyps. My toadstool doesn't seem to want to come out. A couple of times it started to, but went right back in. I have moved it once thinking it was the light or water flow, but after I moved it, it seemed to stretch toward the light. Any idea what I can do? It has a greenish glow to it. Does that mean its not getting enough light? One side of my tank is brighter than the other for some reason. I will wait a day and put it on the other bright side, just looking for some advise.
Thanks

Laura,
Have seen that "greenish glow" on leathers when all closed up before at LFS and really don't know what that means
But leathers can stay contracted for long periods time after serious stress of moving, new lighting, new water conditions, different flow rate then used to.
Leave it be in one place for a while and quit moving it around.
After while it should get used to where it is and open up just fine.
Good Luck!
Scott

| I was told when the polyps are puckered up the coral is sleeping. Then to wake it up you need to poke the stalk with a bbq skewer then all the polyps wake up and stay out until they get tiered, then they go back to sleep.
Sometimes the polyps don't come out when you want them, so you have to poke the stalk to wake it up. |

Don't know who you have been talking to, but whoever it is knows nothing about marine animals.
No coral likes to be "poked" --- will definetly close up, and if done often enough, may never open again.
If you have questions, please post here.
You will get the right "poop" in short order. |

I think is due just to change in environment.
Actually, have never seen a leather not do this when first moved to tank. |
