Unhappy GSP not feeling so green

I've had some green star polyps for several months now and they were growing fine and spreading all over. About 2 or 3 weeks ago they started not coming out. Last night we noticed they were starting to come back out but they seem smaller and more on the brown side than the regular radio active green that they were. I've seen GSP that were brownish green, but can they change color, start green as heck and then turn to brown? Just wondering what's going on.

Thanks

Marc.

They can change color based on the lux of your bulbs as well as the color of the bulb(kelvin). It may be time for you to change the light bulbs for your tank.
The other thing is that it seems like the zooxanthellae is being expelled by your gsp, though I could be wrong. have you changed anything recently in your tank ie. add coral, changed placement of gsp or other corals, add new supplements?
If your lights are not the problem try adding iodine to your tank if you aren't doing so already to start with. Next, try a different place in your tank to place your gsp. Also are your water parameters up to speed?
See if these suggestions help you! Good luck!

Thanks for the reply CR. The lights are still relatively new. The day the GSP started not coming out was when i added a montipora digitata frag to the tank. Since then the GSP rock has been moved and other corals have been added.

Marc.
