Coralline algae die-off

My "monster" BTA decided to spread itself over aquarium side glass instead of on overflow as usual.

When it moved back, a large patch of coralline algae on glass had turned white...next day was gone.

Wondering if anemone caused die-off, or occurred because of temporary loss of light? (rhetorical question)

Anemones and reef tanks are a bad mix.. It was not lack of light in just a few days or so. They have a toxin in the pedistal that henders algae and other animal growth from crowding them.

Same with corals I guess? Anytime I see a coral growing onto a piece of coralline encrusted liverock or glass, you can see the coralline going white around the edge of the coral growth.

LOL like a old pine tree nothing but another pine of the same species will ever grow near it, Always a dead ring area around the base of them..
