| coral to place in the sand? i would like to add a new coral to my 210gal. i've got one 250watt metal halide, placed in the center of the tank, with moonlights on each end.
i would like something i can place in the sand, as opposed to mounting on my live rock. i would like something that does'nt rquire much light, as i would like to place it on the far left side of the tank.
i would appreciate suggestions for the middle of the tank, also(corals to mount in sand), where the light is much brighter.
thanks |

| With only 250w over a 210 gal, if I am reading right, you are not going to keep much of anything but the lowest light requiring corals, esp way down on sand bed.
I am really not certain what corals will thrive under such conditions.
Try experimenting with different softies... _________ AG "125," AquaC EV 180, 30 gal sump, "SCWD", 80 lbs LR, CoralSeaLife "Moonlite" Hood, PFO 250W HQI Mini-Pendant (SPS HQI 14000k bulb)
12 Gallon NanoCube - 24w stock PC 50/50 light "...nothing good ever happens fast in a reef tank, only bad things happen fast..."

i hear "sun corals", and "carnation corals", are good for low light. i also read "red chili/cactus coral", and "colt corals", are good low light corals. |

With a tank that large might even want to bump that up to 400W? As in keep the 250 in the center and add a 400 to each side of it? Just throwin this idea out there, we'll see what others have to say! _________ 55 gallon slowly growing reef aquarium, 85 lbs. live rock, 2 1/2" sandbed, 1 False Percula Clown, 1 Sixline Wrasse, 1 Mandarin Goby, Tetratec PF500 filter, 2 110 watt URI Super Actinic VHO actinics, 2 250 watt metal halides with Reef Optix 2 reflectors powered by Blue Wave 3 ballast, born 1/3/08 My Tank Thread My Tank Video |

| I like smaller MH and VHO combo or just a straight up VHO rig, i know alot of you guys prefer MH but I've seen alot of great tanks running on 100% vho and it'd probably be alot less $ than adding the other 2 MH's _________

You will need to feed it ALOT though so keeping your water quality good will be difficult. You might want to look into some of the smaller types of zooplankton like oyster eggs or something that's called "Rod's Food?" I'm going to PM Tangster a link to this thread so he can give you some tips on how to feed it without too much trouble. |
