| Re: Can someone identify this coral/anenome? It looks to me as if it is a rock/flower anemone. They are generally very peaceful and easy to keep. I have one in my 75 reef and my B/F has two in his 26 reef. _________ |

| Re: Can someone identify this coral/anenome? Actually no that is a Elegance Coral or Catalaphyllia jardinei. Years ago these were a very hardy coral and easy to keep but in the past few years they have been doing very poorly. *No one last I knew is quite sure what has cause the drastic difference in how it has been doing in captivity and there are numerous theories on it. including collection methods and bacterial infections. I believe Eric B is doing a study on them currently trying to figure it out. Right now till this happens they are probably better left in the wild. I believe this is also one of the corals Eric mentioned when I last say him speak that were dwindling in numbers in areas cause of the way they grow in the wild and the way the are collected. |

What goes in must come out :-)
You can feed them occassionally but they are generally photosynthetic and need medium lighting.

| Re: Can someone identify this coral/anenome? I have read of anemones expelling zooanthellae (sp?) in just that way.

| Re: Can someone identify this coral/anenome? BL,
It's definately an elegance coral :-) They also chuck up now and again to rid themselves of waste etc.
Normally can be kept at low to medium light levels with low water movement.
Cheers
