| Strange critters on my coral.... What in the heck are these things?
OK, OK...I'm just kidding again. Those are the infamous red bugs and they're thriving on a 1" frag that I picked up for $5 and infected my entire system. I just thought I would share that as it's a pretty good picture of the buggers if I do say so myself (be sure to click for the full size image).
I treated my tank with Interceptor yesterday, and now that frag looks like this...
Judging by the polyp extension, it seems to feel better already.

| Thanks! The camera is a Konica/Minolta Z2 with a cheap macro lens set I picked up from eBay. The picture was taken on a tripod with the camera in 'super macro' mode. |

| My camera is a great blend of the features from a digital SLR with the ease of a point and shoot that will accept external lenses and filters. Many of the newer cameras have a 'super macro' mode (often listed as an icon with a flower and the letter 'S') which locks the focal point to achieve the best shots of subjects that are very close to the lens.
For those who are curious, the add-on macro lenses are made by Bower.
As for the red bug treatment, it wiped all but 1 hermit that I can find, and every single acro crab in my tank. At least my peppermint shrimp, and a good number of pods survived! It seems that this also triggered a mass spawning of mysid in my refugium. There are literally thousands of babies all over the place! |
