I got this otherwise beautiful Montipora Capriconis frag that has a little dead spot in the rim where the surface tissue is gone and inside the tissue is dead/black. The coral is growing and otherwise doing well, but this spot is not going away.
Any ideas on how to treat it?
This is what John from Az Reef said and I think it's good advice but I am taking a survey for other's experience so please chime in!

Hi, Matt. I think you should very gently cut that bad section out. It is very delicate so perhaps some very small scissors would work. This would only work on the edge. If the bad spot can't be reached without cutting through good tissue, I would surround it on both sides with a ring of super glue gel to try and contain it. This coral is usually a very strong grower but is very meek. It overcomes competition by outgrowing about everything else around it. I have a frag sister of the one I sent you that was about an inch across. It has since gorwn to about 4 inches and is forming plates and whorles....Be patient...if it lives it will be a weed!!
