| help i dont know what is wrong with my leather i got a small leather coral about 3 weeks ago and the first couple hours it was fine but the next day the polyps went away and it got smaller. now the tank 2 months old and i have a diatom problem i guess it is because it is a ne3 tank |

So how old was the tank when you added the coral? What are your water parameters? Based on the info you provided, you added that coral to a 5 week old tank. Probably a little too soon, since your cycle was still in its last stages.
Give us a little more info and we can work this one out. And yes your diatoms are due to the newness of the aquarium. _________ 125 Gal Reef. | well i have a red sea max which is a 34g tank the lighting are two 55 watt t5 power compact fluorescent i have tried diff. placements in the tank parameters every thing is zero. i have about 40 pounds of live rock in their and i added some damsels early and the tank cycled very quickly and i forgot about the diatoms but the diatoms are going away now. _________ |

| Leathers tend to shrink & close up often... and as baugherb said shedd
My spaghetti and devils hand close up almost daily and shed once in a great while..
