I have fish and coral with ricordia. How do you go about feeding them? I'm new at all of this. I just feed my fish and every few days or so use phytoplankton but have never used fish to feed them. Do you need tongs are what do you need to help deliver the food? Do the frozen fish get too old to use. What I have belonged to the previous owner. I don't know it they thawed any or not during the move as someone else put them up. The bag is kind of icee. Will it still be ok?

Also, do the fish need to be soaked in selcon or something like that before feeding.

Cindy I didn't soak the silversides in anything. I suppose it wouldn't hurt.

If they are the size of mine shown in the pic, they don't need much more than a slither of meat.

I also feed them small thawed chunks of Formula II.

I use a couple wood shiskabob sticks to get it down to them. One to spear the food, the other to help remove it.

Mine were shrinking initially, so I fed them once a week. Now I go a few weeks between feedings. They seem to be doing well.

I'm soaking some silversides right now for my ailing open brain. I was told that might help and I'll feed the ricordia while I'm at it.

Am I also suppose to be feeding other corals in that manner. I have frogspawn, hammers, flaming torch, fox coral, and others. Do they need occasional feedings to other than phytoplankton? Thanks

I wouldn't think so although my hammer takes food occasionally. I wouldn't worry too much about them as long as your water parameters are good (alk, calcium, and occasional magnesium and iodine seem to help.)

I tried feeding the ricordia and it didn't work. I don't think their mouths were open enough. The slivers of fish stuck to them but after a few seconds my hogfish came along and ate it off of the ricordia.

I also fed my ailing open brain. Wow!! That was really something to watch. I had never seen its mouth before. It took him a little while but he sucked down half of that silver side. [smiley=trampoline.gif] [smiley=guitarist.gif]

I'll try again with the ricordias tonight.

Glad to hear about the brain.
Try feeding the ricordia after you feed your fish.
Maybe put a cup or glass over it to keep the fish away.
Ricordias are slow eaters.
Luckily I don't have fish to bug mine.

I just got this Red Sea Deco Art, those dice shape tank, 6 inch x 6 inch x 6 inch, i have 5-6 orange and green ricodia in there, don't know if i should feed them those frozen squirt cyclopses, i am afriad the tank can't take the bio-load, suggestion?
