| Brown sludge on coral I have a feeling that this is bad!
My Duncans has developed some brown sludge on one of the half formed heads. it looks as tho the head is dead now but it also looks like the sludge is spreading.
I've looked on the net for coral disease'but can't find anything that matchs this description.
Any ideas? I'm in work at the moment - but last time i checked all my params were fine. _________ |

| You can always try a dip in Lugol's solution.

| Maybe brown band disease!
Maybe just algae growing on it due to lack of water flow. _________ 125gal.w/Mag9.5 return(dual megaflow)>Mag7 pump Aqua Cev180skimmer.Wave2k Hamilton Reefstar(2)250watthqi(mh)pend.a Yellow, Naso Tang Red Lip Blenny Percula Clown Demoiselles Niger Trigger F. I thought maybe it was the start of brown band disease. I dont think its algae as it looked like the head effected was almost melting off. Could it be RTN?
Sorry i know i should stick a pic up, but im in work so i can't at the moment.
I have a feeling its a gonner anyway. |

| i am wondering if duncans are vulnerable to brown jelly disease, like torches/frogspawn/hammers get.
if so, the best thing you can do is keep it in an area of increased flow, and cut down on target feeding for a while, until it clears up. if in fact it is BJD, siphon that stuff out of the tank as soon as you see it. it is a bacteria that can spread. some say it's due to excessive target feeding.... _________ |

An iodine dip can't hurt either. |

Add 35 drops of Iodine to a qt of water it does not have to be Lugols and set it in there for 10 mins sounds like BJD to me also. After its soaked swish it about to wash off the loose dead stuff.
