Default New Clam

I dont think that he has totally opened but not real sure, cant remember how far he was opened in the shop. He's a bit over 2". He moved about an inch last night but the back part looks a little more open. I know a picture is hard to tell but Does he look healthy?

hi, it appears not to be open all the way, it looks like its in good shape, looks like theres some new growth on the mantle, if you can find a flat rock or large clam shell for him to sit on it may help, there maybe a fire worm under him or something else under him in the sand that may be bothering him, i like a rock under mine.

The clam looks like a maxima. It lives its life on the rocks and attaches itself with byssal filaments through the opening in the base of the shell. Make sure and give it a nice level surface to attach. It does look to be in good shape.

He/She just might knock it's self off of that perch. Keeping it on the sand bed is fine. Just put a flat piece of rock underneath it, giving it something to latch onto. Otherwise it's possible for it to attach it's self to the bottom of the tank They use their *foot* to move around and for grasping onto.
