I could be wrong, it wouldnt be the first time. I can't help to think why you dont use this method in your home but do use it in your LFS. If this was a method to be used in large systems, like a LFS, why was this small, but significant detail left out? Im not bashing anyone, but if your going to offer a method, please make sure you give it correctly. After all, some ppl have thousands of dollars invested in their tanks. I dont feel ashamed or embarassed b/c I voiced my opinion, the truth of the matter is, we all do that here at 3Reef.
I have researched this method before I injected my statements. Most, if not all, have said that they dont recommend this method and this includes the famous Anthony Calfo and Randy Holmes-Farley. If I have mis-diagnosed my problem, I will be the first to apologize in public. I have nothing to hide or feel ashamed about. After all, we are all humans and make mistakes. Luna | Luna....please don't take this personal because, you weren't the person who should be ashamed of themselves. Some people on the thread should be, but it wasn't you. IMO, you are making a leap in logic and I merely disagreed with your leap in logic.
I used this method at home for ages. Then I got busy (office in Seattle, office in St. Louis, office in DC). Ease of use and quickness was of prime importance and cost was a less important factor. Wasn't worth the time to me at that point. _________ Curt |

| I am just catching up here, this appears to be a joke?
If so I am moving it to the Bucket.
Also, the 'inside baseball' here is a bit vague for me, but the tones are not. Please keep this civil or move on. |

Thank you for catching that. As for tones. 'Whoops' It's impossible to read someones tone over the internet from reading. The original thread changed from my joke, to a debate on the use of 'Borax'. I think it's fair for someone to voice their opinion, and wonder ' why' this method is used and preached to be used so frugally. I think 'wildreef's' point he was trying to make was. Yes, everyone agrees that borax does work in a SW fish tank. But, are there any LONG TERM side affects from using this Borax? What kinds? When dosing your tank, you use this amount? Well, why do you dose this amount and not something smaller/larger?
You get what I'm saying? I've heard all kinds of people say it was safe for the tank... Well I know it's safe for the tank, it's a short term booster for my tank. But, what are the long term conditions that it might throw into my tank!
=)
Sorry if I or anyone else came off to harsh for voicing ourselves on this thread.
No harm intended |

| Thanks for laying it out.
And yes, I agree, tones are hard to read in forums. No doubt there.
If you all can discuss borax without offense, it could be a helpful discussion. |
