I have 13 snakes. King snakes and rat snakes mostley. Consisting of 3 grey banded kings (nice blarse phase, Langtry) I got from a local breeder who has some of the best offsring availible.... And a pair of (Blond Trans-Pecos) rat snakes, and a pair of corn snakes. One of them is a very nice Oakatee, from same breeder above (LEE Abott) and one is a nice creamsicle corn from him as well, so out of the corn snakes I will produce 100% het for creamsicle from an oakatee male, which has a bold black outline around the blotches. This means in the albinof m such as (creramsicle) This will result in a creamsicle corn look with the black border of the blotches being replaced by white borders.

I am anxous to play with my camera any way!!! Just an old Kodak easyshare 4.0Mp. Also have a pair of Variable kings which both have buckskin type of appearance. Sold as orange, but diminishing orange. Actually one has an orange look still. It is a male from a diffrent local breeder. (Tim Tohmas) Have a 5 ft. columbian boa, and a male Amazon Tree boa 3 1/2 Ft. long

Very cool...
I've got a few herps myself. A leopard gecko, a brown anole and 3 fire-bellied toads. I was actually planning on slowly phasing out the herps (ie not replacing them should they pass on) but the school I'll be working at next year (i'm a science teacher) has quite the collection of herps that I'll be inheriting: 2 rat snakes, a pair of fat-tailed geckos, a couple random frogs and a turtle too.

NICE!!! I also had snakes...use to have four!! Grey Banded King, California King(she was beautiful and had a Mickey Mouse Pattern to her-black and white)making her very unique, a Ball Python and an albino Corn Snake.
Names:
Simba.......Grey Banded King
Mateo......Python
Kala.........Corn snake
Shania......California King
Snakes make wondeful pets, and my three kids 3year old being the youngest loved them and my snakes would never bite!!!
I miss them, but didn't have the space and time especially with moving and setting up my salt tanks!
I would love to get a Bearded Dragon at some point!

Very cool! Lets see some pics. Fiancee has lets say a lack of appreciation for reptiles. So only fish for me.

What is it with women and reptiles anyway?...
They mix about as well as water and oil!!!!!! Of course their are exceptions but not many...My girlfriend is scared to death of reptiles-----

Nice little collection you had there coral reefer! I love greybands. I am thinking occasionally about thinning out my collection once I set up a reeftank. I hate to get rid of stuff, but you know how it goes.

Cool Peices! I forgot to mention my bearded dragon! he is about 14 inches long or so. Also have a mexican red leg taranchula, about a 5 inch legspan. Have had her for about 5 years. Females can live more than thirty years!

My girlfriend tolerates the herps thats about it. Not very in to them. lol. In the garage I have four ten gallon tanks with about 40 mice! I started with two lol. Saves me alot on snake food. 50# bag of rat chow from feed store $14 !!!

I have to take some pics still. And figure out how to resize the ones I already have before I can post them. I will try and get them up soon.

I've never kept snakes but have kept a fair share of crested geckos and dart frogs. Did someone say pics? I breed everything I've kept successfully but I really did it just for the vivariums, I recently passed everything on to focus on my one reef tank and school, plus I want to build a HUGE vivarium when I graduate.

You know, I have to mention something since we are talking about reptiles and such!!! When I first started my venture into the world of herps, yes my kids actually had an influence in my decision...however, in all due respect, it was Steve(Crocodile Hunter) Irwin that had the greatest impact on me! His shows, daily on Animal Planet, attributed to my desire, appreciation and enthusiasm towards these amazing and truly beautiful animals!
I learned alot about respecting and learning about these wonderful and unique reptiles and also his love for these animals(I mean he cried deeply when one of his animals at Australia Zoo died). We seem to get attached to these animals in our own way. I remember how sad I was to have to get rid of my snakes. Fortunately I can see one of my snakes at the local pet shop since they bought her from me to breed her with some of the males in the shop!!!
One thing that really gets me upset and it holds true with any animal, mammal, fish etc. is when these animals are hunted and killed for nothing less than a pleasure thing at the expense of the poor animal. Sharks for example have been getting a bad rap since Peter Benchley's "JAWS" which he later admitted that sharks aren't as bad as the press they received. Now, many Sharks and Rattlesnakes, especially, have been sent to the brink of extinction! People think that Rattlesnakes are dangerous to humans and should be killed if seen or hunted out just because they are Rattlesnakes-NOT being KNOWLEDGEABLE is a big part of this whole reason they are in trouble>>>>Rattlesnakes are not on this earth to stalk and hunt humans!!! They have venom to be able to catch and eat their food sources which is albeit faster than they are. If they didn't have venom they would die of starvation!!
OK, enough of this as I have gotten ahead of myself I guess and don't want to preach but I guess it all comes around in full circle as it does for us here at 3reef. We fellow reefers are learning and trying to be conscientious, and at the same time conserve our delicate, complex and diminishing reefs and their inhabitants throughout the world.
This is what it is all about...learning, conserving, and appreciating the value of life in our worlds oceans and on land.
This was illustrated and portrayed through the eyes and works of people such as Steve Irwin, Jeff Corwin, Jacques Cousteau and shows such as Mutual Of Omaha's "Wild Kingdom" and even Disney's "True Life Series".
It is great that we are carrying on in their footsteps!!!
And we all need to be applauded for that...if we can help to save one animal each-it would make a big difference> maybe the difference between another animal possibly becoming extinct or NOT...
