| I bought a blue spotted jaw fish. Got it in the evening and I made this really great top out of the lighting crate that you hang from the drop ceilings...I call it egg crate but it is not. I had every inch of the top covered. I finished floating him, placed him in, immediately turned off the lights to allow him to settle. Dang thing jumped during the night....must of jumped through the egg crate hole...perfect jump.
I never ever got to see that thing.... $100 dollars and did not even get to see what he looked like in my tank. I refuse to buy another one as almost everyone I have talked to said that theirs jumped also, some with lids (obviously did not fit all way close). I just bought a pearly jaw fish and have not seen him. I have a cover on the tank so I am looking for him in my sump...as I have had a couple fish jump into overflow. I just covered my overflows yesterday, so hopefully that will never happen again. But I figured a $29 pearly that looks as cool in my opinion jumps versus a $100 blue spot...I can handle that better. I hope I find him soon. No body yet!
At my LFS, they place their blue spot jawfish in little hamster balls so they cant jump. It is kind of cute, but you cant leave them like that for long! But they ahve several in now and you see all these balls swimming in these tanks. |
