| Bird Lovers... Having birds seems to be very common among us "reefers".
I know there is a least 3 bird owners on the forum.
Wonder who else?
Am just curious and would like to see pic and characteristics of other "bird buddies."
Meet mine: Name: "Rascal" Type: Sun Conure Sex: ? (I think of it as a "her" - acts like one - has regular grumpy periods) Age: 9 years Favorite foods: sunflower seeds of course (which I limit) - could never get her to eat pellets. Also likes fruit, spagetti, my glasses, my ear. Favorite pastime: "squawking", tearing up "birdie bed" - I have to buy one a month. Dislikes: all women - (another reason I am pretty sure she is female) Likes: being outside, chasing the cats, chewing up anything, me.
Please introduce yours!

| I had a lovebird (it's a parrotlet or small parrot) for quite some time when I was single. Then I got married and Rachel moved in. Chi Chi was NOT HAPPY ABOUT HAVING THIS WOMAN IN HER HOUSE AT ALL.
Rachel would tell me the bird was horrible because it made so much noise but it really didn't. Then she explained that Chi Chi is pretty quiet when I'm home but as soon as I leave, she squawks at the top of her lungs. I was thinking, "yeah, right".
Eventually, a very nice mild weather day happened so I opened the windows to let some fresh air into the house. I had to go somewhere (I don't recall where anymore) and by the time I got to my car, Chi Chi was indeed squawking at the top of her lungs and Rachel was yelling at the top of her lungs, "Shut up!!!!!"
Luckily, I found a very nice male person who liked birds and Chi Chi had to find a new home. |

| Well, as you may already know, I own a year old parrotlet named George. Why "George" you wonder? Well, I grew up watching Bugs Bunny cartoons and one of my favorites involves the Abominable Snowman who is looking for a pet that he can pet and stroke and call............GEORGE! He's a great bird but just lately, he has become very territorial so I can only handle him at night time when he's calmed down a bit and is ready for bed. From what I've read and have been told, it's because it's mating season so a bit of crankiness is to be expected. Men! This is the first bird I've owned and because I'm pretty much afraid of any bird that is larger than him, he's just my size |

Got rid of a Canary who would never shut the *&^% up and had this one annoying sound that ad a rhythm and he'd do it all the time when a sound set him off. I like fish and corals leave them for weeks at a time and when I come home they are right where I left them (: make no sound and they don't shed and drop hair all over the place like a dog and a cat is totally out of the question any animal that can't be taught 3 simple commands and can't be house broken is not a pet its a pest (: I like and have had horse's (: _________ Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible (Doug Larson) |
