| Tangs Are there any good books strictly about tangs or any marine fish books with an in depth tang section? Thanks! _________ |

| Let me know how it is. Unfortunately their aren't many books like that regarding Tangs!
There are plenty of books out all about Butterfly fish, Angels, Wrasses, Basslets, Sharks and Rays and Clownfish but not about just Tangs other than this one!
If that doesn't look good, try looking online! Saltwater Tang & Surgeonfish Photos
Some nice pictures of various Tangs that fellow reefers have...Good reference |

| The only trick to keeping healthy tangs is water quality. These fish are more demanding of perfect reef quality water then many corals are. And will stress rather quickly when exposed to less.. This is the reason many label them Ich Magnets.
But nothing could be more further from the truth then this. And when Ich does appear people start treating and dipping and lowering the already stressed water quality as well as fish.
They require real highly oxygenated saturated water as well. And when Ich does appear just simply raise the water heater up to about 81 to 82 and add a few air stones to compensate for the lower oxygen levels from the warmer water and it will pass.

| It may be a chase and tag game for a few days abd it might look like one is trying to kill the other But I have never had but one tank in all my 40+ yrs of keeping mostly tangs to ever have one to actually just be so mean as to kill another. It was a HUGE old yellow that was hand raised by and an old lady customer of mine who had him in a 65 gallon alone for all of his life with her like 7 yrs then she passed and I inherited him and he never accepted another fish near him. They reminded me of the old lady with Tweetie Bird (:
We have right now a Hippo a powder blue , Convict, Rabbit, fox face sail fin and another tang I can't recall and I'm going to add a a couple more tangs later on as the tank ages.. Maybe a yellow ? or a shoal or orange shoulder and a scopas ? Also lots or rock work and hiding places makes it easier to do this as they need rock work to run into and get out of sight when need be. |

| Thanks for the tips tangster. I have had a yellow tang in my 4ft tank for a while doing great. I was just looking for something that covered all of the tangs with thier habbits, needs, natural environments, etc etc. Im going to buy that book blind basically most likely and I will let you all know how it is. |

| I'd look into the TFC Atlas of Marine fish it covers all the fish and gives you specific information on each species and the sub species.. Thats about the only book I ever brought worth every penny I think.. I think that was the name of it ?? Its been yrs since I last saw it around (: |
