| The Reef Aquarium Volume One OK, so it is not a new book (pub 1994) but it is still the best book I have and I love it! So much so, that I had lent it out a few years ago (and never got it back...vol. 1 and 2 > ) and I went and rebought it again! at the meager fee of $70
It is like a textbook in size and detail! Chapters are as follows..
The Reef In Nature
Nutrient Regulation on Coral Reefs
Biology of Corals
Biology of Tridacnid Clams
Systems for Maintaining Corals and Clams
Lighting the Reef Aquarium
Aquascaping
Water Quality Parameters
Control of Nutrients and Undesirable Algae in Closed Systems
Diseases, Parasites, Pests, and Commensals of Corals and Clams
Collection and Transportation
The ID and Care of Tridacnid Clams
Stony Corals
Spectacular Reef Aquariums around the World
It gives great detail and several options on everything chemistry related! At just over 500 pages!!!! it is by far my favorite reference book! Info is still very relative today! Not that much has really changed!
Check It Out!!! _________ I Love My Sig By John Hawkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Re: The Reef Aquarium Volume One I've been looking for an all around good reference book. That, from the reviews, looks like a good one. The only book I have right now is Reef Secrets by Nilsen and Fossa, which is good for stocking, has good general info, and great pics!! I'll vote on this one when I can look at a copy. [smiley=scholar.gif]
There is a guy out there by the name of Martin A. Moe that I have heard of. I think his stuff is even more dated but good info.

| Re: The Reef Aquarium Volume One Yup, I have two of his books. This one is much more detailed and current
The second volume is excellent as well. It deals more with the soft corals, if I remember correctly |

| Re: The Reef Aquarium Volume One I'd save your money and pick up the 4 volume series, "The Modern Coral Reef Aquarium", it is a much more in depth (more fact/less Julian's opinions) series of books, and LIGHT years ahead as far as ID goes. The Reef Aquarium Volume Three was supposed to be released like 2 1/2 years ago. I wonder if it will ever hit the shelves.

| Re: The Reef Aquarium Volume One Julian told me with a straight face it would be on the shelves 2 years ago. So him again last year and he said, "some time next year". Scott Micheal will finish his entire fish series before Julians 3rd book will ever come out |

| Is the Reef Aquarium vol.s better than say "Corals of the World" by J.E.N.Veron, or the Reef Guides books(3 vol.set? |
