| Book Review - (Scubazoo "Reef") The perfect thing to curl up with on a cold winter night (assuming girl friend, wife, spouse, dog - not available ). 357 pages of glorious mind boggling eye candy. I would think a must have for anyone that appreciates coral reefs. (ummm, most everyone here?) - So, let all loved ones know this is what you need for present next holiday --- or better yet, forgo that next coral/fish and get this instead! --- You won't be sorry. Ok, back to book... Coral reefs are often called "the rainforests of the sea" because of the quantity and diversity of life they support, and because they are highly sensitive and threatened ecosystems. Building on the success of DK’s Rainforest, this unique pictorial celebration of the worlds reefs progresses through an ecological chain that goes from algae, sponges, and mollusks to the thousands of fishes that make their homes there. This vivid collection of photographs, from underwater photography collective Scubazoo, reveals reefs as they’ve never been seen before.
Scubazoo is a dedicated team of divers, photographers, marine biologists, and conservationists, who have devoted their lives to the filming and preservation of reefs worldwide. Their work includes filming for productions broadcast on National Geographic, Discovery, Animal Planet, BBC, and NBC News. The group is based in Sabah, on the island of Borneo. Scubazoo works with the World Wildlife Fund, Greenpeace International, the Reef Environmental Education Fund, and the Shark Trust.
-Features reefs worldwide, from Southeast Asia to the Red Sea and Hawaii
-Captions identify plant and animal life and quotes give additional background information
-Photographic narratives demonstrate how reefs live/die, and how creatures depend on them
-Published in cooperation with the American Museum of Natural History

| The Book/DVD is some of the best underwater photography I have ever seen. Too much for the brain to absorb all at once (anyone who has ever dived a coral reef will understand. ) --- will probably take me a couple of years to get all the way thru book, as I have to restart from the beginning every time I pick it up.
The DVD alone is worth price of book.

Thanks Omard... | Yep agree, "always something!"
You don't really have to buy this book right away.
Just go down to your local Barnes and Noble, grab a starbucks and find a easy chair.
Plan on being there a while.
You will probably buy it anyway (just remember Amazon is much cheaper) |
