I am sad a person at the lfs store told me to keep my salinity lower than needed for corals. Now I know why I could only keep brackish soft corals. Dang. Good thing I found out before I invested in some nicer corals with my upgraded tank!! I thought it was because I had a smaller tank and it was harder to maintain was all or maybe my lights weren't good enough so I bought 4 l.e.d. lamps. I would have kept my salinity low and they would have died anyway! I need to come on this site more often! Still, I am sad to have trusted this guy and he knew it. I will now drive 10 miles more to a different store for sure.

Even my snails are dying. It's all my own fault. I was too impatient. I wasn't thinking and figured a 50% water change would be fine. I figured it all wrong and now the tank needs cycling like it was new. I will learn off this one! I don't know what I was thinking! So stupid! The transfer of the 20 gal. (which has been great for four years) to a 55 gal. is turning into a nightmare. Please pray for my clown. I am thinking of running him up to the lfs to possibly save his life. Corals are looking sad to. Whaaaaaa!

The 55 is now cylcling from the transfer from the 20 gal. saltwater and should take a week or so but the fish and corals look great so far! Now, with the l.e.d lights I will be able to do sooo much more! I want giant clams now! It's beautiful. I got the stand for free, a nicely homemade sturdy job for sure but had to refinish it first. The 100 gal. ended up in the basement as a freshwater with a 7 1/2 inch H. Persei and 2 blood parrots.

So, my little 20 gal. has been very stable now for almost 2 years. They say if you can handle a small one, larger gets easier.
I AM ABOUT TO FIND OUT! Tomorrow I am getting a 100 gallon tank! Sooo much to think about! I hardly know where to start!
I must be nuts.

It's now a year old. I still can just pull up a chair and sit and stare at it instead of tv. It's an escape sometimes I guess. I have always loved and yet respected the ocean. To have a bit of it in the house is a privillege for me. I think I just really feel the best near lots of water. A few months ago I saw a tiny jellyfish, I swear! I even have a short video of him. I think he got eaten, or swept up in a water change though. I always see new things in there. The other night a brittlestar came out. I don't know where he came from, but he was the size of a dime. Now I want a bigger tank, as a 20 gal. has been a challenge, they say the bigger the easier. I'll find out soon I hope.
