| Open For Business! - Guidlines For An Auction Ok. I am really excited to open up this board for 3reef members. You can now start your own auctions! *[smiley=thumbs_up.gif] Before you begin, please read through the following! 3reef Auction Guidlines:
- Since I don't require everyone's credit card numbers in registration, this auction will work on a honor system. Any member that does follow through and leaves the other member hanging with the goods, will have their 3reef membership immediately suspended.
- If a member decides to cancel his or her auction. That is fine as long as they do so before the auction ends and leave an explanation as to why they are doing so. Mulitple reoccurances will be reviewed.
- If the minimum price is not met, the member who put the item up for sale is not expected or required to sell the item BELOW the minimum price.
- If a member can not follow through on their purchase for any reason, it is fine if the member auctioning their goods agree. Otherwise their membership will be suspended. The next highest bidder should be contacted if the min. price was reached.
- Auctions are restricted to reef-related equipment. - Estimated shipping cost should be stated by the member auctioning. It should also be stated if the shipping is including in the min. price or to be paid by the bidder. Ok?
That said, here are some pointers: Please set the min. bid increase to .5 (50 cents) or a dollar for expensive items. Any less or more will make the auction too slow or fast. Asking *Price: The price you would like to get for it. This will not be shown. Minimum Price: The price you are willing to sell it for. This will not be shown, but it will say if it has not been reached yet. Phone Numbers & Location: Optional.
For more details see below. Quote:
Ask Price (the value you want to ask for your stuff)
Minimum Price (The value you are willing to sell for)
Both are invisible but Minimum Price determines the Max bidsteps allowed.
Minimum Bid increase (the minimal increase for the next bid)
Setting this too low or high will be prohibited by the board settings)
Try to set this in such a way that it makes the Auction interesting to bid on (like for a 100& item steps of 5& or 10& will allow the bidding to reach the sales value in reasonable time)
Closed Bidding [ *]
Setting this checked will only show the highest bid to the owner, the admins and the person holding this bid, leaving it unchecked will show all bids to anyone including guests.
Phone number and place can be left empty (the board will fill in "not filled out by the seller" but keep in mind that there must be some way of getting into contact with the possible buyer and that he/she has to know where the items are at this moment (It takes a lot of money to ship a complete fishtank from the Netherlands to you guys *)
Auction Duration (in days)
Min/Max are limited by the board settings but choose a timespan that is reasonable to sell your stuff.
If an Auction times out you will be able (as the owner or admin) to extend the auction by a certain amount of days.
Image URL
You can add in an image which is reachable at some url on the net (eg your own website).
Be sure to Click the Check URL button to see if the image loads and to have the auction resize it to preserve the board index from being distorted by larger images.
| [smiley=deal2.gif] By starting an auction, it is assumed you have agreed to these guidlines stated above.
