| What happened during FW dip? I gave my pink zoa a freshwater dip today. Since it was delievered to me it has had four mounds, shapped out of the skeleton. They all had a slit in them with some type of flagella coming out. I have searched high and low and can not find what kind of zoa it is. Anyway, during the FW dip for Red Band Algae that it came with, the mounds, hills, or humps started expelling a little bug. One was huge! The others where small. The mounds are now broken with a whole in the center. But after all this, it is doing better now than it ever has before, and it has only been 4 hours.
Please help me figure out what the creatures where and if the mounds where normal or caused by them. THANKS!!
I can get a pic of what it looks like now if anyone needs it, but none before... _________ We love our two tanks! They keep us busy and interested! Currenty we have a 150 gal. reef tank and a 30 gal. tall fish only tank. These are my children... cutefeet@bellsouth.net |

| Re: What happened during FW dip? I'm sorry for the confusion, the retail store showed a picture of a hot pink zoanthid polyp. Well... when I recieved the frag it was not the same in the picture as it was suppose to be. I didn't know what it was. I thought they just sent me an extra frag... [smiley=goofy.gif]
Here is a pic of it tonight. Notice how bright the pink color is, well with outout any poylps. The Zoa was very light pink with dark red necrosis moving inward from all of the edges. Under the coral on the bottom was a weird looking yellowish slime, along with green bubble algae. During the dip all of the slime melted. The coral did not expell get the spider web looking things like I have seen before though... I'm not sure if it will make it. I didn't think that it would have lived this long and especially not improved with color. |
