Hi everybody. I got this RBTA 2 weeks ago. It has moved around quite a bit and now has settled on a rock (for now ) It was looking great even had the bubble tips in the bag when i brought it home. Now this is what it looks like

The tank is about 2 years old. I added a sump and fuge a couple of months ago, got a little level of nitrates but everything has been at 0 for a while. I have fed it shrimp from the grocery store about twice in the past 2 weeks. A couple minutes ago it was even smaller than on the pic, could barely see its tentacles anymore. And now as I am typing this i can see them a little more.

Thanks for the reply

Anemones are fussy sometimes. Personally, I think you're feeding it too much but that's just me When I kept anemones, I never fed them because I didn't want them to get huge or split.

While I would trust amcarrig's advice, I'd like to share that I feed my rbta every 2-3 days for the most part. It acted quite finicky for the first month in my tank. After that the outlook is splendid Yah my anemone is growing considerably, but that's the goal for now

A full measure of your water parameters would help a bit I think. Mine especially does not respond well to sg other than 1.025~1.026

Well its now going back to almost its normal size. so i guess it was a normal behavior although i will keep a close eye on it.

I do want it to grow a little bigger, but i think i will cut down the feeding to once a month

Well when you feed it it has to dispose of the solid waste and thats what its doing .. There is no need to ever feed a BTA or any anemone for that matter other then what they catch in the water and from their photosynthesis , That is if you have proper lighting and if you do want to feed it get some raw bait squid and then watch it explode in growth I had one that was 1/2 as wide as the 135 tank it was in and had split several time's But that was back when they brought a nice price but so much these days .. If you do feed it try the squid and just a chunk about the size of a dime.. People feed their animals and systems to death. What goes in stays in in one form or the other..
