I been noticing every now and then a reb leg crab ripped out of its shell dead. I dont know who the culprit is or is likey to be.All I have is a cleaner shrimp,2 emerald crabs lots of other red legs and blue legs,2 yellow tail damsels tiget gody and algea blenny and different types of snails

Are you losing an invert or is it just molting?

i am strongly believing its the invert itself and not molting

possibly it died due to improper nourishment, or a fight between another hermit. Or maybe a beginning stages of water parameters not right.

I am leaning more towards a fight because they appear to be ripped out of there shells

I know a molt look a lot like it's been ripped out.

I agree, have you pulled the crab, or molt out of the tank?? I know the first time my crabs molted, I thought it was a crab too, but it was just his shell. Also, do you have new shells in your tank for the crabs to move into as they grow?? One of the crabs mite have been killed for his shell.

I havnt pulled it out but will do so next chance I get.I have to get new shells for these guys to
