| Solve ich problem Hello everyone
I had three times ich in my tanks so i have lost many fish. Then after trying everything i solve the problem.i setup two quarantines tanks and i use water with very low salinity 1.008 - 1.009 and some times 1.007.I know it sound crazy but because i found some reports that very few ich could survive at very low salinity 1.009 i trying to go the lower possible. All the fish i had in my quarantine tanks surviver (Tanks, butterflies,Angels,Gobies,Damsels,Clownfish )
Now i don't care about ich problem. When i have problem i remove all the fish from the tank and i put them in the quarantine tanks for two month. All the times i keep the infected tank for two or three months without fish. Then i put them back and is easy no medication and the most important no fish lost. The quarantines tank after the treatment i low more the salinity to kill any survive ich 1.005 and try to don't put fish for one month.I use mangroves to keep away algae and nitrate.
Don't forget to introduce the new environment to the fish very slowly (two three days)
It is my pleasure if that will help someone |

| Re: Solve ich problem Yes it is easy and effective fletch, but i went little more forward to 1.008 and 1.007 without any problem.I said that because i thing for one week with 1.007 - 1008 will be more effective.
One more time i suggest people do not use medication. |

| Re: Solve ich problem Well, Anthony Calfo came to our Reef club this weekend and gave a great talk with Q and A after. I asked about the fallow tank and will it kill all the ich....he said no.
Any opinions, ideas on this theory of leaving the tank fallow for 6 weeks?
He also said, by the time we see the ich on the fish, it has had it in it's gills for quite some time already and the fish will either make it or not. He recommended isolation with a suctioning of the bottom of the QT tank daily with water changes, said that the garlic does seem to have a positive effect, but other that that, the fish will make it on its own, or not. _________ I Love My Sig By John Hawkins!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Re: Solve ich problem I believe it would be "ich", being derived from 'the study of fish' or Ichthyology.
Why the parasite is referred to commonly as ich , I can't really say. Perhaps Cryptocaryon occurs in other creatures, and Ich is used to refer to fish cryptocaryon? |
