Its a 40g ..i had a 29 upgraded to this one about 6 months ago..used everything from the other tank in this one..it was set up for 2 years ..but it was a fish only tank until recently..bought a fish it got sick and killed everything that was the reason for the upgrade..tested this am everything good.Ive been told my clean up crew might have taken care of it but dont have one..just a bumble bee snail and alot of pods..never had any problems with it as far as it getting dirty or algea build up pretty spotless..

The anemones would be my first suspect.

how big are your rock anemones? Mine gobble up whatever falls into them and cant escape ie afew good asized shrimp and could certainly do away with a small scooter. Also scooters are prone to dissapearance as puffer_lover said, as theycan feed off pods alone in a mature system. Gives em the ability to hole up for weeks. I'm not sure if water quality would take a big hit form a small scooter ina 40, i doubt it. I wouldnt stress over it too much regaurdless of what happened to him as i dont think he'll really affect the whole tank.
