Red Sponge dying

I have a red sponge that appears to be dying. One of the fingers has a dark brown tinge and appears to be getting smaller. WhenI placed it int eh tank I was very careful not to expose it to the air. I've had it for two months. any ideas?

Could you tell us a little more about your tank, and the sponge, Was it an Atlantic verity?

agree with kb-and if it is on its way to sponge heaven-get it out of your tank asap
