Yes, I have one on a 55 hospital. There is only a 3 stripe in it along with a mess of live rock so I'm not too worked up about a high $ skimmer. It is touchy. It seems to like a lot of air in the mix and tends to error towards producing wet skimmate. Since they are real cheap and I have back up skimmers from years of wasting $ fish I did a little minor surgery to mine. I took a dremmel tool and opened up the return hole a little. This allowed me to lower the internal water level and produce a little dryer skimmate.

What is your specific problem?

If it is overflowing, you are not making enough / any bubbles. From memory there is a soft plastic sleeve that goes between the pump and the intake tube. Is yours missing? It sounds like you have a good enough seal as you are pumping enough water to cause it to overflow. I'd check that the the venturi is properly installed and pulling air. Make sure the valve is open and operating, the hose is clear, and the hole in the middle of the venture is open. You should be able to blow through it. I'm betting that is the primary problem. A good sourse of air is critical to any venturi based skimmer.

Before you do any mods get it working to spec, but yes that is what I was referring to.

Post up with the results.

Later,

Bruce

Micro bubbles? A little from both the Jebo and the SeaClone. That is part of the reason they are being cycled out. Do you have a sump? If you hang it on the sump you will eliminate many of the bubbles, especially if you add a bubble trap. BTW, how large of a tank is it going on?

30 gal. Not much room in there. Be careful in feeding and stocking. Little changes add up fast in something that size. Strange as it sounds, bigger can be easier in this hobby.

Oh, you might try putting a sponge or a filter bag or maybe a sponge in a filter bag zip tied to the outflow to try and trap some of the bubbles.
