pinched mantle on my clam. what do i do?

    i think my clam has pinched mantle. actually in 99% sure it does. ill add a pic incase someone says otherwise but im almost positive it is. so what do i do? will it spread to my maxima? so what do i do?

    it may be... but when i put my derasa in, it looked similar for two days until it got happy in my tank.

    If it is PM and it progressively gets worse then you will have to do a fresh water dip for 30 minutes. The water must be same temp and pH as your DT. There is only a window of a few days where you can treat before PM becomes fatal... Careful though, because the fw dip can stress it out more if its not suffering from PM.

    But as I said, mine looked like that for 2 days when i introduced into my tank. Then it moved clear across the tank :-/ and has been happy since

    i may have jumped the gun on this one guys. kinda forgot the lights have only been on for half an hour. i feel dumb right now. looks like he isnt an early riser either!!! so sorry and thank you dingo! K+

    give it a day or two. It doesn't look like pinched mantle to me. Just not all the way extended yet. Give it a couple days, then if it looks the same, fw dip for 30 min.

    pinched mantles are usually curled and obviously stretched out in places and the mantle isn't completely extending proportionally....just something to look out for being a clam owner.

    it is a bacterial infection that clams get that is deadly if the right procautions are not taken to help it heal.
