| Overflow help!! I have just finished setting up my 180 gal it has two overflows chambers each 8in from each side, the water in one chamber is rising and then dropping and when it drops below the bend in the durso's piping it sounds like a toilet flushing, how can i correct this issue?? do i need to drill a bigger hole in the top cap??

| is the drain line straight or does it have a bend in it under the tank? most overflows are rated around 600 give or take. sounds as if there is either an air pocket that is caught or the out flow doesnt match the line with the overflow, hard to say. could you give more info?

| Now you know its not a durso stand pipe he just put his name on a plumbing venting design thats been in use for 100 plus yrs. Its a wet vent and the cap needs to be removed or enlarge the hole. Are the two 1 in drains connected or just going into the sump individually . You have a air lock somewhere either the caps vent hole or the pipe in the sump is air locking and or you are over driving them with to much water flow what pump do you use ? _________ Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible (Doug Larson) |

| Mine will do that when I get salt creep or something clogging the holes on my standpipes. If you are just starting it then do what Tangster said and drill a larger holes, but do small increments on the hole, you don't want it to be real big. _________ Scott 265g (Peninsula)

| Also sounds like he has a flexable drain hose thats not flowing correctly. Make sure that the hose has a " down-ward " flow and not a even flow. I dont know if I explained it correctly, but I hope it helps.
